Experience the Best of Both Worlds

It's easy for us to say you'll find the best of both worlds here, because you will. We have the resources and opportunities of a metropolitan health system, within the idyllic setting of an 'All American City.' We are close enough to the fast lane to stimulate your senses, yet far enough removed for you to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. And when you're ready to head out of town, you'll find the Atlantic Beaches only a little less than two hours away and you can get to the Blue Ridge Mountains in about three hours.

A Desirable Way of Life

It's more than the good life. Wilson, is one of North Carolina's most beautiful cities. In fact, Wilson is known as "The City of Beautiful Trees'. Wilson is a vital community with a tranquil way of life that invites you to put down roots. And, because location is everything, you'll find Wilson ideally situated. Halfway between New York and Florida, Wilson is a quick 30 minutes from Raleigh and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Maybe that's why over 77,000 people call Wilson County home. Add to that an affordable housing market, and we think you'll agree Wilson is a very desirable location offering a multitude of cultural activities for everyone.

Educational Excellence In Our Schools

The Wilson County Public School System (http://www.wilsonschoolsnc.net/) serves approximately 12,500 students in 3 high schools, 6 middle schools, and 14 elementary schools. Three private schools also exist in Wilson including Greenfield School (http://www.greenfieldschool.org/), Community Christian School (www.ccscyclones.com) and Wilson Christian Academy (www.wilsonchristian.com).

Pursuing Higher Education

Barton College (www.barton.edu) is a four-year liberal arts college offering a rich educational experience. Wilson Community College (www.wilsoncc.edu ) complements the educational resources of the area. Only 45 minutes away is East Carolina University and Brody School of Medicine. And nearby, the Triangle area is home to North Carolina State University, UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University.

Recreation: Something for everyone

A moderate year-round climate offers plenty of opportunity for recreation. Golf, tennis, swimming, boating, fishing, and baseball make Wilson a haven for sports lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Golfers can choose from three private courses and one public course. Lake Wilson and Buckhorn Reservoir offer a variety of boating, fishing and picnicking activities.

Sports

If you like sports, you know about Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, all home to several Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) teams. Wilson Tobs baseball is a summer collegiate Coastal Plain all-star team. Their home games are played at Fleming Stadium built in 1939 and renovated to seat approximately 4000 fans. Wilson's Burt Gillette Athletic Complex hosts several regional soccer tournaments including the U.S. Youth Soccer Association 2008 Southern Regional Championships.

North Carolina Baseball Museum showcases baseball memorabilia from ball players that played in North Carolina like: Catfish Hunter, Hoyt Wilhelm, Gaylord Perry, Enos Slaughter, Rick Ferrell and Buck Leonard.
