Wilson Medical Center's Department of Laboratory Medicine provides quality services for inpatients, outpatients, and emergency patients of all ages. These services are ordered/required by attending physicians of a variety of specialties in their treatment of patients. The hospital laboratory operates 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year. The hospital laboratory has an extensive outreach program and provides services as a reference laboratory testing site for physician offices and clinics, providing specimen pickup for routine and STAT analysis and result reporting.
Laboratory activities are directed by board-certified pathologists who provide supportive services in both medical and technical areas. Each section within the laboratory is supervised by experienced technologists and testing is performed by competent Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians.
The laboratory is fully accredited and certified, licensed by the US Department of Health and Human Services under the provisions of the CLIA '88 and accredited by The Joint Commission.

Test results from all areas of the laboratory are routinely monitored for accuracy, precision, and reliability by both internal and external quality control programs.

Eastern Carolina Pathology provides pathology services for Wilson Medical Center. All Eastern Carolina pathologists are board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Cytopathology and hematopathology board certifications are also held by individuals within the group.
The Laboratory at Wilson Medical Center is located at 1705 Tarboro Street SW, Wilson, NC 27893. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
