William Mitchell, MD

Dr. Mitchell is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and specializes in rotator cuff repair, labral repair/shoulder instability, AC joint separation, ACL tear, meniscus repair, patella instability, knee replacement, total and reverse shoulder replacement, fracture fixation, carpal tunnel, trigger finger, Achilles tendon repair, patella tendon and quadricep tendon repair, general orthopedics and worker's comp. He joins Wilson Medical Center from Knoxville, TN, where he had a wide range of experience in treating patients of all ages – including young athletes, active adults and seniors.

Dr. Mitchell received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, AL, where he graduated with honors. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of South Alabama Health System in Mobile. Dr. Mitchell continued his professional training with a sports medicine fellowship at Sports Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Medicine (SOAR) in San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Mitchell is a former collegiate baseball player and he looks forward to being involved in the athletic community here in Wilson. His sports medicine experience includes team coverage of high school and college sports, including football and professional baseball.

He and his wife, Megan, have three boys. Dr. Mitchell enjoys spending time with his family, lifting weights and watching University of Alabama athletics. He also loves all things baseball.
