Education and Support

Education and Support for Your Birth Journey

Preparing for labor, delivery and life with your newborn can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. We provide education and resources designed to help you feel confident, informed and supported.

Why does childbirth education matter?

Every birth experience is unique, and understanding your options can make a big difference. Whether you’re a first-time parent or adding to your family, we provide classes and tools that cover everything from birth planning and pain management to newborn care and postpartum recovery.

What classes and resources are offered at Wilson Medical Center?

We offer a variety of educational opportunities to meet your needs, including:

  • Childbirth Education Class - Having a baby is an exciting event. Our childbirth education class helps you to be fully involved in the birth of your baby. This class will prepare you and your loved ones with the facts about labor and delivery, including both information and techniques to handle the labor process. The class will also provide information about newborn care and breastfeeding support.

Childbirth classes also provide explanation of each state of labor, promoting better understanding and greater reassurance during childbirth. It is desirable, but not mandatory, for participants in the prepared childbirth classes to have a labor coach. The coach may be any person you feel will best assist you in delivery. The classes will still be helpful to those who do not have a labor coach. Class is offered in English and Spanish.
