Whoolery named 2025 Mercy Award winner

May 28, 2025

Wilson Medical Center recently announced that Micaela Whoolery, RN Clinical Educator has been recognized as the facility’s 2025 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

Established in 2001, the Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.

“At Wilson Medical Center, our caring and compassionate team members are at the heart of advancing our mission of making communities healthier – and Micaela Whoolery is a shining example of this day in and day out,” said Lindy White, CEO of Wilson Medical Center.  “We are so proud to recognize her many contributions to caring for patients, supporting our hospital, and serving our community. I’m grateful for Micaela’s positive influence and the example she sets for all of us.”

Micaela exemplifies the Mercy Award through her unwavering dedication to serving others with compassion, empathy and action. As our diabetic clinical educator, she goes above and beyond to support patients in the Wilson community, leading monthly support groups, helping patients access critical diabetic supplies, and providing hands on education. Her tireless advocacy and personal commitment such as providing aid to a patient in need without a proper working fridge, reflect her deep compassion. Outside work she also helps lives on a farm where she donates her time in rescuing animals extending her care and compassion to creatures in need. Micaela is a true embodiment of LifePoint Healths mission and values.

Each facility winner, including Micaela Whoolery, will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2025 companywide Mercy Award. The companywide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee, in August.
