Susan Burroughs named Chief Operating Officer of Wilson Medical Center

Wilson Medical Center (WMC) announced today that Susan Burroughs has been named chief operating officer of WMC, effective Jan. 4, 2026.
Burroughs joined WMC in March 2025, as vice president of operations, leading cardiac services, laboratory and imaging services, respiratory therapy and the outpatient wound care center. In her new role, she will expand her leadership scope to oversee hospital operations, service line growth, and strategic initiatives ensuring continuity and continued momentum across the organization.
“We are so excited to have Susan ascend into this important leadership role,” said Lindy White, chief executive officer of Wilson Medical Center. “Her deep expertise in operations in community hospitals and healthcare systems such as ours makes her the right person for this expanded role as we enter an exciting year for our hospital, and for the Wilson community. Every day, she demonstrates both her passion for healthcare and a commitment to our patients, providers, employees and community, and I know that she will help us further advance our mission of making communities healthier.”
In previous leadership roles at MUSC Health, Burroughs led operations across multiple facilities and oversaw service expansion, consistently improving access, physician alignment and operational outcomes. She also held senior executive leadership roles at HCA Healthcare, and at another Lifepoint Health facility.

Burroughs holds a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from California State University, Northridge. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and is FACHE-board certified in healthcare management.
