Wilson Medical Center invites community members to an upcoming health education event focused on arthritis and joint health. This Lunch and Learn session, titled “Living with Arthritis: What You Need to Know,” is designed for individuals living with joint pain, stiffness, or mobility concerns and will provide practical information to help community members better understand arthritis and options for care. This session is ideal for anyone living with any type of arthritis or caring for someone who is.

Arthritis affects millions of adults around the world and is one of the leading causes of pain and disability. While often associated with aging, arthritis can affect people of all ages and activity levels. Learning more about symptoms, treatment options, and when to seek care can help individuals manage pain, maintain mobility, and protect long term joint health.

Arthritis affects millions of adults and is one of the leading causes of pain and disability. While it is often associated with aging, arthritis can affect people of all ages and activity levels. There are many distinct types of arthritis. But arthritis does not need to slow you down.

During the session, attendees will learn about common types of arthritis, how the condition affects joints over time, and the range of treatment options available. The discussion will include nonsurgical approaches such as physical therapy, medication, lifestyle changes, and when surgical care may be appropriate. Time will also be set aside for questions and discussion.

The session will be presented by orthopedic surgeon Andrew Bae, DO. Dr. Bae is fellowship trained in total joint replacement and focuses on hip and knee conditions, including arthritis. His approach emphasizes restoring mobility, reducing pain, and helping patients return to daily activities through both conservative and surgical treatment options. He specializes in hip and knee replacement and will describe his approaches to helping patients live with and successfully manage lower extremity issues.

Dr. Bae completed medical school at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital/Hughston Clinic in Georgia, followed by fellowship training in lower extremity reconstruction and total joint replacement at Scripps Clinic in California. He joined the medical community in Wilson last year.
