Sharing Our 2025 Community Benefit Report
May 14, 2026At Wilson Medical Center, our mission of making communities healthier means taking meaningful action to support the health and economic vitality of our region. It is our honor – as a leader in this community – to continually find ways we can make a positive impact both inside and outside our facilities.
Our mission has always been a fundamental part of our role as a community leader, and we have steadily worked to protect the health of our patients, each other and our community during challenging times. We are grateful for our esteemed clinical leadership and their commitment to our patients that enables us to continue providing quality care close to home and accomplish our vision of creating places where people choose to come for healthcare, physicians and providers want to practice and employees want to work.
Every year, we publish a community benefit report that outlines our impact and highlights the various ways we care for our patients, support our staff, and strengthen our community. We use this report to not only define our community impact over the past year, but as an affirmation of our commitment to service and quality care in the year ahead. We are prepared to continue to meet the growing healthcare needs of our community, and this annual report spotlights the powerful work we accomplished together last year.
Last year alone, we provided almost $69 million in charity and other uncompensated care. Caring for the most vulnerable among us is at the heart of our mission, and is what drives our exceptional staff to show up every day for every patient who comes through our doors.
Our annual community benefit report outlines some of the important ways we’re striving to create a workplace wherein your expertise and job satisfaction are appreciated and where employees can leverage their knowledge, skills and experience to care for others. For example, in 2025, we distributed more than $79 million in salaries, wages, and benefits to our nearly 900 team members.
In an effort to boost our region’s economic vitality, we aim to be a fiscally responsible organization and paid more than $18.5 million in taxes in 2025, while making contributions to a variety of local organizations, including Barton College, the Foundation YMCA, Meals on Wheels, the Wilson Chamber of Commerce, the Wilson Education Partnership, and many more.
In 2025, we invested in recruiting new physicians and providers to enhance our care network and welcomed new physicians and providers into our community in a variety of specialties, including thoracic surgery, neurology, gastroenterology, orthopedics and primary care. We also invested nearly $1.8 million in capital improvements to ensure our teams have the tools, technology and resources needed to continue providing quality patient outcomes.
These are just a few examples of the many ways we’re making communities healthier every year, and it would not be possible without our amazing staff. Thank you to all our team members at Wilson Medical Center for their dedicated service and continued commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to members of our community.
