May 18, 2026

Wilson Medical Center today announced that Jason Kimbrell, DSc, EMT-P, has been named chief executive officer, effective June 1.

Kimbrell brings more than two decades of healthcare leadership experience and a uniquely broad background spanning hospital operations, emergency medical services, and military service. His career began in frontline emergency medical care and public safety before advancing into executive healthcare leadership roles

Most recently, Kimbrell served as CEO of a complex acute care hospital where he led initiatives focused on operational improvement, physician partnership, employee engagement and patient care outcomes. Throughout his career, he has led hospital growth initiatives, specialty service expansion projects and organizational improvement efforts while maintaining a ‘people first’ approach to leadership, culture and patient care.

“Jason is a thoughtful and mission driven leader who understands the importance of people, culture and trust within healthcare organizations,” said Wilson Board of Trustees Chair, LaTanya Simpson, DC.  “He brings a collaborative leadership style, and a strong commitment to supporting employees, providers and the communities they serve. We are excited to welcome him to Wilson Medical Center and the Wilson community.”

In addition to his executive leadership experience, Kimbrell has remained actively engaged in education, research and leadership development. He recently earned his Doctor of Health Service Administration degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has presented healthcare research nationally and internationally. He has also served as an adjunct instructor and national speaker on healthcare leadership topics.

Kimbrell’s career has been shaped by a strong foundation in military service, emergency medical care and public safety leadership, experiences that continue to influence his service-oriented approach to healthcare. Beyond hospital operations, he has remained actively involved in nonprofit leadership and community initiatives focused on youth development, mentorship and civic engagement.

“I am honored to join Wilson Medical Center and look forward to listening, learning and building relationships across the organization and community,” Kimbrell said. “What stood out to me throughout this process was the dedication of the people serving this hospital and community. Healthcare is deeply personal, and I believe strong hospitals are built through trust, teamwork and a shared commitment to serving people well every day. I am excited to support and build alongside this team as we continue caring for the Wilson community together.”
