Wilson Wound Healing Center Celebrates Wound Care Awareness Week
May 31, 2017
The Wound Care Center at Wilson Medical Center, a member of the Healogics network, is helping raise awareness of chronic wounds. The fourth annual Wound Care Awareness Week is being held from June 5 to June 9. One of nearly 800 Healogics-managed Centers, Wilson Wound Healing Center offers advanced therapies to patients suffering from chronic wounds.
Next week – Wound Care Awareness Week - is dedicated to educating physicians, patients and the general public about the chronic wound epidemic and the advanced wound care solutions.
It is estimated that chronic wounds affect 6.7 million people in the U.S. and the incidence is rising, fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy. If left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb.
Since the Wilson Wound Healing Center’s inception in 2010, we’ve treated more than 3,000 patients – providing treatment to more than 580 new patients just last year. We’re proud to have been recognized as a Center of Distinction, a national award from Healogics, for achieving outstanding clinical outcomes and excellent patient satisfaction scores and wound healing rates.
Unfortunately, many people live with non-healing wounds for a long period of time without being treated simply due to the fact that they do not know where and how they can be treated. It is our hope that during Wound Care Awareness Week, we can educate the community and the physicians about advanced wound care services available right here in Wilson.
People with wounds that have not improved with traditional methods of treatment may benefit from a visit to Wilson Wound Healing Center.
