Mamun Shahrier, M.D., F.A.C.P., joins Wilson Gastroenterology

(November 30, 2015) – Wilson Medical Center announced today that Mamun Shahrier, M.D., F.A.C.P., has joined the Wilson Physician Services team. Starting today, he will offer gastroenterology services to residents of Wilson County and surrounding communities.
“Dr. Shahrier brings extensive knowledge and experience in gastroenterology to Wilson Physician Services,” said Wilson Medical Center CEO Bill Caldwell. “We are glad to have him join our team and know that he will enhance our efforts to provide quality care close to home for the communities we serve.”
Board certified in gastroenterology, Dr. Shahrier comes to Wilson Gastroenterology after eight years as an associate at Gastroenterology & Hepatology Consultants, practicing at offices in Raleigh and Wake Forest. He has also served in associate director and clinical assistant professor positions at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, as a member of the staff at the Cleveland Clinic in Naples, Fla., and a research associate at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
Dr. Shahrier earned his medical degree from Dhaka Medical College, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine from Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, in Brooklyn, New York, and his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, in Boulder, Colorado. He earned his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of London, in London, England.
He and his wife of 29 years, Jarin Sultana, live in Raleigh. They have two adult children.
